I guess I am a special case as far as GP locums go. Our children are grown up and off our hands. My wife and I both love to travel and enjoy the caravan life, and we enjoy the flexibility which locum work gives to our lifestyle, often using our van as our accommodation. I first approached Susan Hill nearly five years ago when I sold my practice due to ill health and asked her to find me some relieving work. This has moved forward at a great rate and basically we plan to go somewhere for a break and work a few jobs into the equation. This allows time for both work and play. So far this has taken us from Cairns and points north to Hobart in the south. I have worked in some lovely practices in some great environments and met many interesting patients. Often I am asked back to the practice year after year and it is often very difficult to have to say no. I have found Medical Recruitment extremely efficient and persistent in obtaining employment for me, and in particular we are grateful to Sue for finding work in Tasmania where we go every two years to coincide with the Wooden Boat Show in Hobart.
