I am the Practice Manager of a large practice on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Recently we had 2 of our doctors on unexpected personal leave, this presented us with somewhat of a crisis for our busy practice. Byron West Doctors opened in early May 2006. Due to a shortage and unavailability of permanent GPs at the time we commenced practice with one locum GP on board provided to us by Medical Recruitment. We have continued employing locum GPs to this time, even though we have been fortunate enough to recruit two permanent GPs. The locums have provided us with the stability a new practice needs whilst recruiting the permanent GPs, and have been instrumental in the success of this practice due to their dedication and support of staff and other doctors.
